Hawk Studios is the creative home of Gypsy Fari — an American Reggae band blending funk, blues and rock with the deep pulse of the islands.

From Chicago stages to the shores of Jamaica, that journey shaped a sound we call worldbeat: rhythmic, multicultural music made for great listening. Today, Kevin Hawk and Dr. Gail are back in the studio, writing and producing new worldbeat sounds — music that makes you move your feet to a hypnotic beat.

Kevin Hawk

Composer · Producer · Drums & Keys

Kevin began his musical career in Chicago the 1980's, composing, arranging and writing songs while playing drums and keyboard. He formed a band, Gypsy Fari, and while living in Jamaica, combined funk, blues and rock influences to create a new American Reggae sound. Later, he collaborated with his friend Bob Marley to infuse more funk, creating a true Reggae-Funk genre. Kevin is back in the studio now, writing and producing new worldbeat rhythmic and multicultural sounds.

Dr. Gail

Lyricist · Wordsmith · Storyteller

With folk, classical and jazz musical roots, Dr. Gail was distracted from her focus on music for a while, becoming a real-life physician and wordsmith, writing stories and a novel. She never lost her love of music, and she now employs her skills writing lyrics about the mysteries, joys and complexities of life. She believes that music can reach deep into the essence of what make us human. It can inspire, change perspectives, and unite us as nothing else can.

Both Kevin Hawk and Dr. Gail are lifelong world travelers, always seeking new musical experiences wherever they go. Together they are having a blast, enjoying life and creating worldbeat music for great listening, that makes you move your feet to a hypnotic beat.
